im not sure about grocery stores but other businesses have MASSIVE margins.
=its been awhile but i was told furniture store margins are at least 100% margins meaning they buy a couch wholesale for $500 and typically sell it for $985 retail price or sale price of 40% off is still a 10 % margin.
=gasoline sales are 2-4 % margins but the junk food sold at gas stations is about 200% margin
